Estrogen receptive breast cancer – Don’t blame your hormones !

Are you the person with a diagnosis for estrogen receptive breast cancer? It was me too!

Are you blaming your hormones for causing you to have cancer?

Are you feeling you will always have to live with this fear of estrogen?

You will always have to live with continuous menopause symptoms? You will never feel yourselves again? You will just have to live with it?

NO, please don't go there.... there is a different way. There is a way to feel good again, to have more energy and feel zest for life,  to tackle menopause symptoms.

And most of all to not feel terrified of your own hormones!

You need all of your lovely hormones

You need your hormones, if all is well they are working in perfect harmony with each other and with you, to create health and wellbeing in your body. You cannot be and do without one or the other.

It is very unlikely that your body decides for some unknown reason to suddenly produce loads more of one hormone than the other. If that is so, there will be a reason but the reason can be found and tackled. You could read the imbalance as a message to let you know, all is not well. To send care and love to your body.

It is also very possible that your body has not eliminated hormones well, the ones that your body no longer needs. AND it is also very possible that there are many added chemicals in your body that mimic estrogen and add to hormonal imbalance. These very damaging chemicals, known as xenoestrogens lurk everywhere, in pesticide laden foods, bodycare, cosmetics, shampoos, cleaning products, washing powder, air fresheners, perfumes!!!….the list goes on…

The good news is,

nothing of this is random and all of the above can be shifted by US, YOU, ME.

We can make the lifestyle changes necessary to make friends with our hormones, to get our hormones into a beautiful balance so they support us rather than harm our health. And btw with achieving this balance we will feel healthy, radiant and vibrant!

Of course if you have been prescribed hormone blocking drugs such as tamoxifen there is something else going on that meddles with your hormones but you can still work on the underlying issues of why your hormones are out of sorts anyway.

Because really, this will help your overall sense of wellbeing so it is never a waste of time.

Healthy hormones equals feeling good, vibrant, with a positive outlook.

Let me introduce  7 simple lifestyle tweaks to overcome estrogen dominance, to release the fear of your own hormones and get back to feeling so much better than you thought you could.

Here are the 7 tweaks

1. Elimination

Do you poop once per day? If not you might be reabsorbing hormones that were parcelled up by your bodies detoxification and elimination pathways ready to leave your body.

Regular bowel movements are incredibly important to eliminate hormones no longer needed in our body.

2. Sweating

Another elimination pathways is sweating, do you get a sweat on regularly? When we sweat we often also move, which in turn moves our lymphfluid. This is important for elimination/ detoxification processes.

So get a sweat on regularly to aid your bodies natural detoxification pathways

3. Hydration

Keep drinking water... not coffee or soda (‘or at least as well as - I am a coffee nerd, which has some health benefits...I don't believe there is such a thing when it comes to soda’). Your kidneys need the fluid to flush out toxins including superfluous hormones ready for elimination.

4. Nutrition

Eat loads of veg especially cruciferous veggies such as broccoli, kale, spinach, brussel sprouts, cauliflower. These are full of phyto oestrogens which crowd out the more harmful estrogens. Phyto estrogens therefore are also known as anti estrogens.

5. Sleep

There is no hormonal balance without good quality sleep. Our body will be in stress mode if we do not get enough sleep and cannot achieve hormonal balance.

6. Stress

This brings us to stress which is the most detrimental to hormonal balance.

Stress brings hormonal balance completely out of kilter. The body always has to deal with stress first and therefore all other hormones will be out of balance. Stress is a bit like an emergency mode for our system and all other functions will work at minimum capacity or be switched off by our wonderful body. Our brain steers all this and is trying to keep us alive, so therefore when the brain senses stress aka 'life in danger', it will go into emergency mode to be able to focus on coping and dealing with stress.

So far we have spoken about how to bring our naturally produced estrogens into balance through reducing stress and keeping elimination pathways open….

7. Now a word on chemicals

Avoid chemicals that mimic estrogens known as xenoestrogens. These are powerful toxins that build up in the body over time. Choose natural house hold cleaning products,

organic food whenever you can and your budget allows and the same for body care,

cosmetics, shampoos, conditioner, perfumes etc.

There are so many chemicals in what we eat, drink, clean with and apply to our skin.

Your skin is porous and everything you apply goes into your blood stream.

Basically, you want to be able to eat whatever you apply to your skin.

So, this was a whistle stop tour to estrogen dominance and there is a lot more to share and deatail. If you would like to learn more, and be part of a community of Thrivers do join our free facebook group: ‘The Breast Cancer Thrivers Crew’

In summary,

knowledge is power and with this knowledge you can introduce changes bit by bit, lifestyle tweaks that support you towards healthy and balanced hormones.

My favourite quote:

‘If we do not change, nothing will change’

Of course hormonal balance is not achieved over night but is an outcome of our daily commitment to our health.

But why not, HEALTH is the way to go is it not?

CAN EMOTIONS CAUSE CANCER?

How could anyone possibly ever have come up with the idea that how we think and feel and how we are physically is in any way separate.

If I say to you that thoughts and emotions can cause cancer you will probably call me all sorts of names, most likely you would think me a bit mad. Of course, such a statement is a simplification of a complex situation, of complex processes. What I mean though is that we live in a world where a statement  such as  ‘there is a connection between thinking, feeling and physical disease’ is not regarded as anything to do with medicine or let’s say ’western medicine’.

If you look at Chinese medicine or at Ayurveda you will find that the connection between body and soul is common knowledge and one does not go without the other EVER.

Well, we are one being, one whole but in the western world we have been dissected into separate parts.

That just is a non sense and I hope that either you know what I mean because you have done your own research or at least I hope that I can explain to you and that you can get a sense of meaning.

After a cancer diagnosis we all start by thinking what we could change in our lives to improve our chances of long term survival and normally the first ‘go to’ is to change what we eat and drink.

It seems obvious. So we add in green smoothies, kale, fresh garlic…. we feel smug and leave it at that.

OR we have this deep niggling feeling that this is not enough, there is more of a challenge that cancer is presenting, that somewhere in the cancer diagnosis is a message.

Now this is just a feeling, this was my feeling and this is part of my story. The feeling that my cancer was not a random weirdness of my DNA not serving me well but that there is something in this that connects to who I am, who I have become.

This is not terribly scientific so far, let’s move on to research.

Every thought we have creates an emotion, which creates a physical reaction in our body.

For example, I woke up last night from a loud alarm noise.

It went like this…I woke, hearing a noise. I thought someone had broken into the house (thought), this thought scared me (feeling). My hands were clammy, my heart was beating loudly, I felt I could not move (physical reaction).

This is also known as the fight, flight or freeze response. Our body reacts to be able to protect us and to serve our wellbeing.

We all come across outer circumstances that have us react like I did last night or similar.

And then there are inner circumstances, our own inner environment of thoughts and emotions we create through how we talk to ourselves, day after day, year after day…you are no good, failed again, too fat, too skinny…..I have not yet come across the woman with breast cancer who can honestly say that they treat themselves the way they would treat their best friend.

In summary we create our own inner circumstances and it is up to us how we respond to outer circumstances. Both outer and inner circumstances create either peace or stress, overwhelm, frustration or calm.

Research has shown without a doubt that meditation causes the brain to calm and consequently the entire physical environment. It is so clear why, because we finally move out of stress into rest mode. Meditation is just an example, there are other ways of moving from stress mode to rest mode but meditation is well researched and therefore a good example to show that how we feel and make ourselves feel has physical effects.

Just think if we never allow ourselves to leave stress mode behind we continuously create an environment where our body creates stress hormones, which eventually has a detrimental effect on our immune system and cell development.

We all know that someone who is continuously stressed (all negative emotions cause stress reactions in our body) is more prone to either colds, catching viruses, digestive issues.

That is just the beginning and the early warning signs of a body that is running low…how long from that time on can our immune system protect our DNA?

So - full circle - my cells did not do a random thing by allowing cells to go rogue and become cancer cells but it was a consequence of how I treated myself and allowed myself to be treated (of course I did not do this on purpose) for years.

If your intention is long term health after cancer, I beg you to take your emotional wellbeing seriously. Start by asking yourself how you talk to yourself. Do you talk to yourself as if you are your own best friend?

Sending you love and healing,

Sabine

You have Cancer? You have had Cancer? To Sugar or Not to Sugar

The theory out there

is that sugar feeds cancer. Much disputed by some.

There is plenty of evidence that this is the case though and yet it is not officially and scientifically recognised. Your oncologist will most likely tell you this is not the case (have you asked them whether they have studied nutrition?). Your breast care nurse might tell you to eat anything you fancy (my lovely breast care nurse did say this to me, almost as if I was dead already and there was no point making an effort)

So, clearly in the scientific and official world of cancer care (see also the advice from major charities) the advice is that eating sugar has no influence on cancer whatsoever.

Well, I disagree for many reasons

First of all, there is enough scientific evidence for me to be convinced

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2017/10/171013103623.htm

This is just one tiny example of many….

Ok so let’s start by looking at what is staring us in the face, a few lifestyle facts:

Sugar consumption trends over the past 300 years:

·       In 1700, the average person consumed about 4 pounds of sugar per year.

·       In 1800, the average person consumed about 18 pounds of sugar per year.

·       In 1900, individual consumption had risen to 90 pounds of sugar per year.

·       In 2012, more than 50% of all Americans consumed 1/2 pound of sugar per day — translating to a crazy 180 pounds of sugar per year!

In 1890, only 3 people out of 100,000 had diabetes. In 2012, almost 8,000 out of every 100,000 people was diagnosed with diabetes (and this number is rising all the time)!

Another proven fact, excess intake of ALL processed sugars results in compromised immune function (decreasing the white blood cells’ ability to destroy bacteria), obesity, and diabetes.

Research shows that only a modest intake of sugar or glucose can cause a measurable decline in cell-mediated immunity in healthy people – and if your immune system is already low (which it will be if you have been diagnosed with cancer) sugar is just better avoided.

Are you starting to see what I mean?

Even with so much varying research on the connection between sugar and cancer out there, we do know for sure that one of the biggest risk factors for cancer is obesity, which is clearly connected to sugar intake in our modern diets.

And if that’s not enough, keep in mind that sugar is HIGHLY addictive. Researchers have been working with rats and giving them the choice between cocaine and sugar. The rats choose sugar!

Sugar makes us happy

Sugar produces dopamine − a happy, feel-good chemical − in the brain. People get addicted to eating sugar, whereby they need it to feel “normal” and they undergo “withdrawal” if they cut sugar from their diets. If they go “cold turkey” for a few days, the brain will begin to produce dopamine on its own, but the discomfort of the withdrawal process keeps many “sugar addicts” trapped in their addiction.

For PET scans a sugar solution is used to highlight where cancer cells are and the reason for this is that cancer cells have 20-30 times more insulin receptors than healthy cells.

I am in the anti sugar camp for sure

So here we are, this is why I am in the anti-sugar camp. It just makes sense to me from everything I have come across.

What to use for the sweet tooth?

Yep, I have never eaten a standard sugary diet even before cancer invited itself into my life, but I realise more and more that I have a sugar addiction. I did and do need that daily boost.

As a replacement my favourite is xylitol. Some people’s digestion reacts sensitively to it, so try carefully. Pure liquid stevia is also great but has an after taste, which personally I do not like. Neither Xylitol nor Stevia raise blood sugar levels which is what we want.

I am not clean of the addiction

I now do all my sweet recipes with xylitol and love it. I make sure that I have xylitol treats in the house so that I am not tempted to eat sugar.

For me, I am not one of the people who went on a detox and is now completely clean and never even thinks of sugar…I bow to you if that is you but I never have had such a revelation wake up call out of the sweet sugar dream mindset.

But that is ok, I have found my way whilst enjoying healthy sweet treats without the need for deprivation. Ideal as far as I can see!

And before I go ( I am glad you are still here!)…please read this important info:

Sugar Substitutes. Most sugar substitutes such as Asapartame, whilst they have not been linked to increased cancer risk, are toxic chemical cocktails and should be avoided. Stay away from them and anything containing them.

Also, many so called healthy sugars are mixed with artificial sugars such as asapartame, for example some brands of stevia. Always read the label to check out purity.

Don’t be kidded by ‘healthy’ sugars such as coconut sugar, maple syrup, honey etc. Yes of course they are less processed and more healthy than white refined sugar but they are still sugar!

So if you are after eating a less processed type of sugar and you are not worried about your blood sugar levels, these are fine.

But if you actually want to make sure that you have no sugar because you have or have had cancer (and you would rather not have it again)…it makes no difference to your glucose levels whether the sugar is so called healthy or refined, your blood sugar will spike either way.

And Fruit you ask?

Berries are not very high in sugars so that is good. On the whole fruit are a bit different because they come with the fibre (and have important nutrients, which can’t be said of processed sugar) of the fruit so the sugars are absorbed more slowly than for example drinking coke where the sugar is absorbed immediately.

However, personally I avoid lots of fruit and stick to berries.

There we are, that’s it for now. A lot more and a lot less can always be said and I hope that this was interesting enough to take you all the way to this very last sentence.

Love,

Sabine

WHAT KILLS US? CANCER OR THE FEAR OF?

I have done some very interesting research and reading recently. I read and research all the time because I am just so fascinated with finding out what it is that causes us to have cancer.

Why will every second person in our times have a diagnosis at some point in their lives. Why does the percentage of diagnoses grow ever more rather than shrink.

Why do all the drugs in the world not cure. Why do some people go into ‘spontaneous remission’ whilst others don’t etc etc etc.

I think that Fear is more dangerous than the big C itself

To be told ‘you have cancer’ is probably one of the worst announcements we possibly encounter. Because we believe it is a death sentence. I do not believe that many people greet this diagnosis with ease and an attitude free of worry.

Basically, the moment we hear these words our body goes into a biological mode of fear and threat to life. Like a mouse that is faced with a cat. The mouse panics, fears for their life and runs for their life.

We would also like to run from cancer but we cannot. This means that the biological state of fear for our life does not come to an end, is never resolved so we are continuously in a biological terror mode following the diagnosis.

Even once we have gone through treatment and are in remission…

Our fear may grow again at this stage because we feel alone with the fear of recurrence and we no longer have the support system to catch us when we are fearful. We are meant to go ‘back to normal’ but the fear and perceived threat can hold us back from normality.

Death Sentence ?

I have always had this upset feeling when I hear that people with a stage 4 diagnosis are told how long they have left to live. Who can make this judgement? Basically it is like a death sentence to be told how long we have to live as our subconscious starts to believe that this is what will happen and again what bigger fear could there be?

Would it not be much better to leave a person to live their life and let them decide what they still want to live for? They know themselves that stage 4 means incurable. But every single cancer at every single stage has gone into remission in one or the other person in this world, so there is always a chance and a hope. The fear just adds to the perceived hopelessness.

So, what to do…

Thinking about all this I have come to believe more and more passionately that we musts tackle fear above anything else on a cancer journey in order to truly heal…..because….. our immune system is busy enough with tackling the cancer.

It is a bit crazy to think that it may be the fear that actually creates the biggest problem. The fear of death, the threat to life feeling causes a biological havoc response that gets all our system into a panic mode (like the mouse that runs form the cat) but our body cannot sustain this in the longer term and becomes weak. We may develop symptoms of illness that are created from this fear.

With fear stuck in our thoughts, soul and body we will be going around in a vicious circle of creating a biological war zone where there is no chance for true healing and we create the ideal terrain for cancer to come back.

The feeling of fear and terror has to be resolved.

There are so many ways of working with this and it depends much on what therapeutic approach works for you, for each person. For one person it may be mindfulness and living more consciously with gratitude. It may be meditation or breathing techniques. It may be Emotional Freedom Technique or Rapid Transformational Therapy.

Basically, whilst the fear will be with us at times, we want to calm the mind and trick the body into believing that we are not fearing for our lives. And this is totally possible and necessary.

For example it is possible to show that deep breathing creates a biological effect of calm…this is how we trick our body, soul and mind and the great thing is that what may start as convincing ourselves will soon turn into a true deep feeling of peace.

Whatever it is you can do on a daily basis to calm your breathing, calm your nerves, calm your mind chatter and fearful thoughts, give it a go, make it a priority as it is probably the one most important add in to support your health.

Love,

Sabine

CANCER WARRIOR OR CANCER HEALER

This is probably controversial …Listen me out…

I believe this may be a bit controversial to throw out there but this theme bothers me a lot and I really want to share my thoughts in the hope that they may help someone with a diagnosis.

The war on cancer, to be a cancer warrior, fighting cancer….it just sounds so wrong to me.

We hear it everywhere and most of all from the big cancer charities who fundraise for cancer research etc.

I do understand, I really do because I have been there myself. You get the big C diagnosis and you just want this to pass. You want to get rid of this cancer, it feels like an enemy.

An enemy to your body and soul and an enemy to the life as you have known it, the life that you want to return to as soon as you can. You just want to get rid of that enemy tumor and carry on with life and of course in this situation it appears the easiest to fight. To go into full on battle and get this over and done with.

What does an enemy do though when you fight?

The enemy will probably fight you back even harder. Well, at least this is a strong possibility.

So…. what am I saying? That you should ask your cancer to be your friend? May be that goes a bit far as you don’t want to get too comfortable with the presence of cancer in your body and this thinking would not make you take the steps you need to take to heal from cancer. You do not want to get complacent.

Consider the option that cancer is here to challenge you, in a way a language to communicate with you, a symptom to let you know that things are not right.

Obviously, you may say you are not well if you have cancer but I would like to argue that it is not cancer that is the issue but the underlying cause of the cancer. Cancer is the symptom, the language to communicate with you.

Learning from a diagnosis

How about then, imagining cancer as your teacher…this teacher has come into your life to wake you up and to make changes. Would this not bring about the greatest chance for healing and recovery?

If you think about it..unless you change, nothing will change and how can we work on changes in ourselves in lifestyle, thought patterns, nutrition and so on if we are engaged in a furious battle.

I would like to argue that we need to listen carefully to what cancer has to tell us, is here to teach us and this may be in many different areas in life. This could be to do with nutrition, overcoming grief, anger, resentment, trauma and also how we feel about our life’s path.

Mostly there are aspects of all these areas. Cancer is never just one thing but whatever it is, the more carefully we work with ourselves to heal and recover the more we will learn about ourselves and the cancer that has come to reside.

With this in mind we can choose conventional and complimentary treatment options wisely to heal rather than to engage in a short battle and then withdraw to wait for the next war.

I really do not mean to be offensive in any way, I respect and know from own experience that there is always an element of battle for example the battle with your own fear and emotions but considering cancer as a teacher could make us much more able to respond wisely to our health crisis. To adopt response-ability rather than lashing out from a place of fear and terror.

I know, more easily said than done but I hope I was able to encourage you at the very least to dare think in a new way.

Personally I would love to banish the words warrior, war on cancer etc from our cancer vocabulary

DETOXIFICATION – LIVER LOVE FOR EVERY DAY

And extra Love to recover from cancer

You only have one liver to do all the work of detoxing your entire busy body!

Modern Lives

We live in a world where we cannot avoid toxins and this situation will not improve in the near future. Our food is full of pesticides and herbicides, our skincare products are full of chemicals, we breathe in toxins wherever we go and stress and lack of sleep will do the rest to put stress on our liver.

At times throughout our lives we are likely to abuse our liver with alcohol and excessive living, we have no idea that we are doing ourselves harm and feel no consequence for a good while. One day we are unwell and we wonder why this is. Expression of an overworked liver may show itself as eczema for example and we may have no idea that it is our liver we need to look after.

How to help your liver

With this blog I want to help you find simple ways to take care of your liver and help it along. In the longer term the support you can give your liver is essential for your health and wellbeing.

And if you have a diagnosis for cancer, detoxing and supporting your liver is even more important.

With a cancer diagnosis your body is busy enough struggling for health. You want to support your immune system to be resilient and strong. This will not happen if you add burden to your poor overworked liver but you will go a long way towards complete and cancer free health if you remember your liver every day.

So here we go:

Nutrition, eat a diet that is plant based. I do not mean that you have to become a vegan. There is no MUST in my opinion when it comes to your diet. Food should be an experience that brings joy (I feel another blog coming up) but your plate ideally is 4/5 plant based. Eat lots and lots and lots of veggies and some fruit.

Start your cooking from fresh, not packaged as much as you can. I always plan my meals around the veg rather than the meat or else. Veg as a starting point…

As an add on especially following a cancer diagnosis, if you have a juicer, make fresh juice daily with carrots, celery and 1 apple per person.

Dandelion tea is great for liver health, the liver loves bitter…add bitter foods! Reduce alcohol, which puts extra strain on your liver.

Digestion, whilst we are on nutrition, digestion is the obvious next thought. Keeping your digestion moving (literally) is important for elimination as without elimination the toxins just keep swirling in your system. Sluggish digestion/ elimination can cause all sorts of longer term health trouble.

One bowel movement per day is a minimum. If you experience any less than this, you are officially constipated…we do not take these so called minor symptoms such as constipation seriously enough. Symptoms are our bodies communicating with us…if we do not listen, the message will need to get louder and louder …speak…ill health.

If you struggle with digestion consider a good quality probiotic and digestive enzymes. Also, chew more, slow down eating, eat more mindfully. All other recommendations above and below will also support healthy digestion.

Hydration, drink lots of water. Well, this is not news at all but if you really commit to drinking more you will see how much your health improves. To avoid all complicated calculations of how much water to drink….keep drinking…if your wee is clear and without smell you are fine and if it is very yellow and smells you are not drinking enough. I add lemon essential oil to my water for extra support with liver detox. Two drops per 500ml and always use a glass bottle or stainless steel bottle if you use essential oils in your drinking water. I carry my stainless steel bottle everywhere. When I have drunk 4 bottles per day I know I am doing good and using the bottle helps me to keep track of how much I have drunk. Drinking during meals waters down our stomach acid which is not great for digestion, it is best to drink between meals.

Choose a lemon essential oil that has a food supplement label! Most oils are not approved for ingestion.

Exercise reduces liver fat!! Enjoy movement every day, work out to glow, as sweating eliminates toxins through the skin.

You can go a long way to help your liver by avoiding toxins for example by choosing chemical free cleaning materials or make your own with essential oils!

Choose chemical free, natural skincare, shampoos etc.

Avoid medication and choose natural alternatives (such as essential oils, obviously), please do not get me wrong…of course we are lucky to have access to modern medication but choose with consideration as every medication will also need to be eliminated with the help of our liver.

Every lot of antibiotics for example takes our gut up to 12 months to recover from, the liver and gut are a team!

If we are relying on medication for conditions such as cancer we might like to do liver cleanses or include extra liver support in our daily lives but for today we stick to easy every day ‘liver love’ ideas.

And lastly…be kind to yourself, care for yourself and think about your stress levels (can you reduce any stresses?) and how much you allow yourself to sleep. Stress and lack of sleep stress our hormones and stress creates a mess, which in essence creates internal toxins.

Here we go, I am sure from this list of ideas there are just a few things that you could include easily into your daily life…give it a go and remember your wondrous liver!

Love,

Sabine

BE THE CEO OF YOUR CANCER HEALTH

You might have found this blog because you have had a cancer diagnosis. I am really really sorry, this is such a difficult place to be. I do understand as I have been there myself and I know how terrifying and confusing this is. So many thoughts going through your head and mostly they are around the questions:

Why me, why now, what can I do and how long will I still have to live.

Cancer is not a death sentence!

At time of diagnosis most of us think that cancer is a death sentence but really it is only a word. Cancer is a word and not a sentence. Bear with me, you might think… how dare she make light of this. No, I would not dare to make light of a cancer diagnosis. But I know that you can journey to a place where you feel that cancer has been a turning point for you. A turning point for the better and may be even a gift. Once you have gone on this journey you may well have a better, richer, more fulfilled and more healthy life. This has certainly been the case for me!

It all depends on how you face this challenge. I totally understand that you just want to hide in a hole and not think about this whole horrible scenario or just give up all decisions to your medical professionals and go with whatever is suggested.

Research has shown that the person who accepts the diagnosis but rejects the prognosis has the best chance to survive and to thrive.

What does this mean?

It can mean different things for different people but it certainly means to take a close look at different aspects of your life and how you can make changes so that things will change.

‘If we do not change, nothing will change’. And I am sure that you do not wish to invite the big ‘C’ back into your life once it has been removed and dealt with or you certainly don’t want any tumour to grow and spread. So…. however you got here in the first place…take a close look at it.

Please, do not get me wrong. There is no blame here! We all do our best to live as best and as healthily as we can and often we do not know any better or life circumstances don’t allow any better.

But living with a cancer diagnosis is a moment and a chance to review and change whatever we can to be more healthy, more resilient and more happy. All illness is bringing a message to us and cancer certainly does, this is my firm believe.

You can take charge of your fear and your health!

Many many people have done so and have gone into remission or at the very least outlived their prognosis by years whilst enjoying life. This does not necessarily mean not to go with conventional medicine, it is your choice and you need to be in control. It means though that healing asks for more beyond the conventional approach, it needs a holistic approach, to not just worry about the tumour but to look at the whole person.

There is never one cause for cancer, did you know that only as many as 5% of all cancers are genetic? And even if a cancer is caused by genes it does not mean this cancer will express itself (epigenetics anyone?) …but that is a theme for another blog.

We all know that there are more and more cancer diagnoses with each year that goes by, whilst modern medicine gets more and more sophisticated. Clearly, this shows that life style must be a factor. This is good news as we can change our lifestyle!

I leave you with this for now, it is a little taste of an idea that there is soo much we can do following a cancer diagnosis to get ourselves into a better place. In future blogs I will share with you all the areas to work with for this holistic approach and also what the cancer coach can do to help you at a time that is confusing and scary.

Love,

Sabine
